Just like food or other pleasurable things in life, substances can change the way we feel, but can also affect our physical, mental, and emotional health. People use substances for different reasons. It is important to know that substance use involves risk of addiction and help is available.

Moderate use can have positive and pleasurable effects, while heavy use increases our exposure to both short and longer term risk factors.
